Do you suffer from metabolic syndrome?
You might be thinking right now:
“Roy, what do blueberries have to do with metabolic syndrome?”
According to the scientific community, a whole lot.
A recent study (which can be found in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition) that investigated the impact of blueberries on cardiovascular health concludes that we should all be eating 1 cup of blueberries each day.
Why?
Besides the fact that they are insanely delicious – I'm a blueberry fanatic. – blueberries can reset your metabolic profile.
This is extremely beneficial for people suffering from metabolic syndrome.
Unfortunately, statistics show that 1 in 3 Americans battle it and it's slowly becoming a global epidemic.
Metabolic syndrome also puts you at a greater risk of:
– cardiovascular diseases
– type 2 diabetes
The good news?
The results of the study are pretty clear:
“…eating 1 cup of blueberries per day resulted in sustained improvements in vascular function and arterial stiffness” thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 15%!
The researchers believe this is due to anthocyanins, which are already known to be able to add years to your life and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
But there are other foods rich in anthocyanins as well:
– blackcurrants
– black and red raspberries
– blackberries
– red cabbage
– plums
– red radish
– black carrot
– purple potato
All you have to do is add them to your diet daily and enjoy the benefits they provide!
What do you think of this finding?
Are you as excited as I am?
My wife is rolling her eyes at me again – I just told her the gazillionth time to not forget about my blueberries.
I can't wait to read your thoughts about this topic.
